MEDORA — HOPE Medora Goes Pink will return Saturday, October 10, for its 17th annual event, bringing the community together to raise awareness and provide support to individuals and families affected by all types of cancer.
Founded in 2010, HOPE Medora Goes Pink Breast Cancer Awareness, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment. As of September 16, 2026, the organization has provided $350,400 to individuals living in all 50 states.
Through donations and fundraising efforts, HOPE Medora Goes Pink provides financial assistance to those facing cancer. Recipients receive either two $50 JayC gift cards or a $100 check to help with expenses such as transportation to medical appointments, groceries and other everyday needs during their cancer journey.
The annual event offers a full day of activities for individuals and families, while also promoting cancer awareness, prevention and available health services.
17th Annual Event Schedule
The day will begin with a health fair from 7 to 10 a.m. at Schneck Medical Center, Schneck Cancer Center and other locations throughout Medora. Attendees can take advantage of discounted lab services, including screenings and health tests. Schneck Cancer Center will also provide cancer information, nutrition resources and breast exam cards.
Other activities throughout the day will include:
- Silent auction: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- 5K Run/Walk: 9 a.m., with registration from 8 to 8:45 a.m.
- Car show: Registration from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with awards and drawings at noon. All vehicles, including Jeeps and motorcycles, are welcome.
- Shopping and food vendors: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Live music: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Face painting, inflatable obstacle course and crafts: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Bower’s Barrel Ride: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- HOPE Ambassadors announcement: 9:30 a.m.
- Baby, Prince and Princess, King and Queen Contest: 10:30 a.m.
- CROSS for a CAUSE Relay: Begins at 11 a.m. at Bundy Brothers & Sons Feed Mill on David Street.
- Door prize drawing: 1:30 p.m. Winners do not have to be present.
The event will also feature a Wall of HOPE where attendees can display ribbons, photographs and messages honoring loved ones or recognizing cancer survivors. Historical displays, health screenings, art exhibits and additional activities will be available throughout the day.
The CROSS for a CAUSE Relay is open to everyone, and participants are invited to join groups along the route. The route will be posted on the Medora Goes Pink Facebook page.
Helping Those Affected by Cancer
HOPE Medora Goes Pink distributes 100% of donations received throughout the year and money collected during the annual event to individuals affected by all types of cancer, unless donations are specifically designated otherwise.
The organization accepts donations, memorial gifts and Illuminate Hope donations made in honor or memory of loved ones. These contributions help provide assistance to cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment.
Community members who know a cancer survivor or someone currently in treatment can nominate them to receive support. To submit a name, contact Debra Wayman by calling or texting 812-530-0093. The individual’s name and mailing address are required, while the type of cancer is optional. HOPE Medora Goes Pink will mail a letter of support with a $100 monetary gift to recipients in any of the 50 states.
With its mission of spreading cancer awareness, supporting families, encouraging youth leadership and helping those affected by cancer, HOPE Medora Goes Pink continues to demonstrate how a small town can make a big difference.
