BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington will offer free professional development workshops for artists and arts administrators this fall. The series is part of the City’s ongoing work to support creative entrepreneurship and provide professional development resources for Bloomington’s creative community. Since 2024, the workshops have addressed topics relevant to artists working across disciplines and at different stages of their careers.
This year’s workshops will focus on community collaboration, conflict resolution and burnout in creative practice. Participants will explore approaches to collaborative community-building, navigating conflict and accountability, and addressing burnout through self-compassion and joy.

Andrea M. Sterling will facilitate the workshops. Sterling has more than 20 years of experience in community and academic facilitation, with a focus on community care and the use of self as a foundation for collaborative work.
Workshop dates and topics are:
- Starts with You: Using the Self to Build Stronger Collaborative Community Culture—Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- We’re All We’ve Got: Navigating Conflict, Accountability and Repair—Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- Combatting Burnout: Using Self-Compassion and Joy-Work to Balance the Scales—Monday, Nov. 16, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
