ODON — A longtime fixture on the Daviess County skyline is coming down this week as the Town of Odon prepares to demolish its legacy elevated water tower.
Crews are scheduled to begin work at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, with the structure expected to be prepared and ready to tip over by 7:30 a.m.
The controlled demolition marks a major step forward in the municipality’s ongoing water system modernization effort. Supported in part by state drinking water revolving loan funds and regional infrastructure grants, the town has been updating its utility network to improve storage capacity, system pressure, and long-term water reliability for area residents and local businesses.
Motorists and nearby residents should anticipate minor traffic disruptions and localized activity around the site during early morning operations on Thursday as safety crews secure the immediate perimeter ahead of the drop.
