BLOOMINGTON — A staple of Bloomington’s Halloween season is returning to Kirkwood Avenue as Constellation Stage & Screen hosts its 21st annual interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) on Saturday, October 24, at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.

The classic cult film, which follows sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) into the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank N. Furter (Tim Curry), will screen at 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., with interactive pre-show festivities starting 30 minutes prior to each showtime.

Local drag performer, producer, and host Oriana Perón will return to lead the pre-show events, which feature a costume contest, prizes, and a traditional “devirginization ceremony” for first-time attendees. A dynamic artist from Bloomington who turned her passion for anime, cosplay, and video games into a stage career starting in 2006, Perón has been featured in Crunchyroll, Anime News Network, and Watermark Magazine.
Interactive Tradition and Prop Bags
Audience participation remains a cornerstone of the Rocky Horror experience. Attendees traditionally shout callback lines and use specific props in sync with on-screen scenes.
To support the tradition, official prop bags will be available for $5 online with ticket orders or at the theater while supplies last. Each kit includes a newspaper, party hat, playing card, toilet paper, rice, squirt gun, noise maker, rubber glove, bells, toast, and an interactive participation guide.

Due to high demand and a history of sold-out shows, organizers encourage moviegoers to secure tickets early. Advance tickets cost $21 (plus fees), while day-of tickets increase to $26 (plus fees).
