BEDFORD — Becky’s Place launched a new initiative to support and empower the women who call it home.
Becky’s Place has empowered countless women to restore their confidence, work toward long-term aspirations, and embrace a future defined by stability and purpose.
In the spring, Becky’s Place announced the beginning of a new chapter for many of its residents: the chance to begin a Dental Assistant Training Program. This program was designed to open doors to stable employment opportunities and long-term self-sufficiency for the women at Becky’s Place.
The curriculum covers dental office procedures, radiography, infection control, and preparation for state certification. The program offers hands-on training and gives participants the opportunity to build real-world skills that will lead them to career opportunities.
Thirteen residents and aftercare participants enrolled in the inaugural cohort. Four of the participants have already completed their dental assisting classes and are now preparing to take their certification exams.
This program is offered at minimal cost, thanks to the generosity of a dedicated volunteer instructor. Participants only have to pay for books, exams, and licensing fees. A $3,000 grant from the Community Foundation Partnership has partially offset these costs.
Empowering opportunities like these play a vital role in helping the women of Becky’s Place cultivate stability and lay the foundation for brighter, more promising futures. Each opportunity serves as a stepping stone toward independence, providing the tools and support needed to break cycles of hardship and create lasting, positive change in their lives and the community.
