BEDFORD — Local business owners, non-profit leaders, and community developers will have an opportunity to explore new and flexible financing avenues during an upcoming “Lunch & Learn” session hosted by the Bedford Chamber of Commerce.
The event, presented in partnership with CDFI Friendly Bloomington, is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bedford Chamber office, located at 1116 16th Street in Bedford.

Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) are specialized, mission-driven financial entities designed to expand access to flexible and affordable financing. Unlike traditional commercial banks, CDFIs focus on providing capital and technical support to entities that may face hurdles securing conventional loans—including small businesses, affordable housing developers, community non-profits, and child care facilities.
Featured guest speakers for the workshop include:
- John Zody, Executive Director of CDFI Friendly Bloomington
- Emma Yoder, Program Coordinator for CDFI Friendly Bloomington
During the presentation, Zody and Yoder will outline the fundamentals of CDFI lending, explain eligibility requirements, and guide attendees through the application and approval processes. They will also highlight real-world regional examples of how mission-based financing has successfully closed funding gaps to strengthen local economies across South Central Indiana.
