BEDFORD – As implausible as it might seem, Bedford North Lawrence is already heading toward the postseason. Six weeks into the school calendar, and it’s time to hone the game for the rounds that matter the most.

BNL’s Emma Voris started her countdown toward the sectional with a solid round on the back nine at Otis Park. She earned medalist honors with a 40 as the Stars rolled to a 182-240 win over Brownstown on Thursday.

Next week, BNL will compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament, celebrate its seniors, then look to add to its impressive sectional streak. So it’s definitely time to shine. Voris did that with a consistent tour (four pars, five bogeys, no real stress).

“Emma is so close to being a 30s (for nine holes) or 70s player,” BNL coach Carly Stigall said. “She really knows her game and trusts her swing. Once she finally breaks down that wall, she’s gonna be one to watch out for.”

Sammie Nusbaum posted a 42 with a birdie on the 13th but trouble on a couple of the closing holes. Kadynn Canada (49) and Bella Warren (51) completed the scoring foursome.

The Stars will compete in the HHC at Jennings County on Monday, host Springs Valley and Brownstown in the Senior Day tuneup for the first stage of the state tournament series on Sept. 17, then chase their 14th consecutive sectional title on Sept. 19.
