FRENCH LICK — A morning of remembrance, community and hope is coming to French Lick as community members are invited to lace up their shoes and take part in the 3rd Annual Together for Treven 5K Run/Walk on September 12.
The event honors the life and legacy of Treven Ball, a 10-year-old who unexpectedly passed away from sepsis on September 13, 2022. September is both Sepsis Awareness Month and Treven’s birthday month, making this event a meaningful way for the community to come together in his memory.
The 5K will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. along the trails connecting the historic French Lick Springs Resort and West Baden Springs Hotel.
But this event is about much more than completing a 5K. It is an opportunity to come together with friends, family and neighbors, remember a young life that touched so many people, and help turn a heartbreaking loss into something that continues to make a difference.

Remembering Treven
Organizers hope the morning will capture the qualities Treven was known for — kindness, laughter, compassion and love.
Treven’s Mom, Holly Ball, described Treven as an extraordinary young man whose heart was full of love and whose kindness made an impact on everyone around him.
“He had a gift for making people laugh and making everyone around him feel loved,” Ball stated. “Whether he was telling a joke, giving an unexpected hug, or simply being himself, Treven left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.”
The Together for Treven 5K gives the community a chance to keep that spirit alive.
Participants don’t have to be serious runners to take part. Whether you run the entire course, walk with friends or family, or simply want to show your support, everyone is encouraged to participate.
Making a Difference
Every registration helps carry Treven’s legacy forward. All proceeds will benefit the Treven Ball Memorial Scholarship, with a portion also going toward the Springs Valley Youth Football Program.
By participating, attendees are not only honoring Treven but also helping provide opportunities for local students and supporting area youth.
The event also serves an important purpose by spreading awareness about sepsis, including the signs and dangers of the condition. Organizers hope that by sharing Treven’s story, others will become more aware of sepsis and recognize the importance of seeking medical attention.
