PLAINFIELD — Organizers have officially begun preparations for the 2027 Indiana Sustainability and Resilience Conference (ISRC), the state’s premier statewide gathering for climate leaders, local officials, researchers, and sustainability professionals.
Hosted by Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute (ERI), the annual full-day event is scheduled to take place on Friday, February 5, 2027, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
For the 2027 gathering, the conference will move to the Embassy Suites by Hilton Plainfield Indianapolis Airport in Plainfield, Indiana, providing expanded space to accommodate growing attendance from across the region.
Call for Breakout Session Proposals Now Open
Ahead of the conference, ERI has opened a statewide call for breakout session proposals, inviting community advocates, academics, corporate leaders, and municipal officials to help shape the event’s crowdsourced programming.
The conference aims to foster cross-sector collaboration, share practical resources, and showcase actionable strategies tailored to Indiana’s unique environmental and economic landscape. Organizers are encouraging session proposals focused on actionable skills, policy insights, and practical initiatives in key areas, including:
- Clean Energy & Decarbonization
- Local Government Planning & Policy
- Built Environment & Green Infrastructure
- Community Engagement & Environmental Equity
- Academic & Scientific Research
Proposals are being accepted through Friday, August 28, 2026. Prospective speakers and session leaders can submit inquiries or proposals directly to ISRC@iu.edu.
A Statewide Hub for Climate Action
The Indiana Sustainability and Resilience Conference serves as a vital networking and educational hub, regularly drawing hundreds of attendees—including local government staff, corporate sustainability officers, non-profit organizers, and university students.
“We need a space in Indiana for great passion to come together. Our climate challenges year on year become more daunting, but there’s so much passion in the community — that’s how we’re going to get it done,” said Gabriel Filippelli, Executive Director of the IU Environmental Resilience Institute.
In addition to breakout panels and workshops, the event will feature a conference expo, keynote addresses, and dedicated networking opportunities.
