BEDFORD — Young artists in Lawrence County will have the chance to dive into a unique, hands-on creative experience this summer. StoneGate Arts & Education Center has announced its upcoming Printmaking Class, a week-long studio camp tailored specifically for students entering the 6th through 8th grades.

The half-day program will run daily from July 13 to July 17, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Throughout the week, participants will explore the versatile world of printmaking, a fine arts discipline centered on transferring images from a matrix onto paper or other materials. Campers will get direct experience with foundational techniques, including relief printing, monoprinting, and drypoint.
The curriculum is designed to guide students through the entire artistic process—from conceptualizing a design and carving their plates to mixing inks and operating the printing press. Organizers emphasize that the camp welcomes middle schoolers of all experience levels, focusing on creative problem-solving and building artistic confidence in a supportive environment.
Camp Goals & Activities
Instructors will encourage campers to step outside their comfort zones and experiment with different methods. Over the five-day session, students will:
