Major toy recall: 121,000 squeeze toys sold at Walmart and Ollie’s contain asbestos

INDIANA — Federal safety officials have announced an urgent nationwide recall of more than 121,000 children’s squeeze toys after testing revealed the internal material contains asbestos.

The recall involves Orb Funkee Squeeze Toys, often shaped like monkeys. According to safety notices, the sand interior used to fill the squishy toys contains fibrous tremolite, a hazardous type of asbestos. If a toy ruptures or breaks open, children can inhale toxic dust and sand, posing a risk of serious, long-term health issues.

The toys were sold at Walmart and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet stores nationwide, as well as online, from February 2025 through April 2026.

Parents and caregivers are urged to check their children’s toy bins for products matching the following descriptions:

Because of the severe respiratory risks associated with asbestos exposure, health officials are advising families to handle the disposal process with caution rather than throwing the item directly into standard trash bins.

Take the toy away from children immediately and stop all use. Handle the toy gently to prevent accidental punctures.

Place the squeeze toy inside a heavy-duty plastic bag. Seal the opening securely with heavy-duty tape (like duct tape) to prevent dust or sand from escaping if the toy leaks.

Take a clear photograph of the product inside the sealed bag. This photo will serve as your proof for a financial return

Email the photograph along with your product details to customerservice@orbtoys.com to receive instructions for your full refund.
