BEDFORD — The Bedford Parks Department has officially unveiled its community lineup for the summer 2026 season, offering a variety of activities ranging from pool programs and youth sports to local crafts and community volunteer days.

Here is the complete guide to everything happening around Bedford this summer:
John Lowery Municipal Pool
The local pool is officially open for the season. Residents can stop by to swim, squeeze in some morning laps, or participate in water aerobics.

- General Swimming Hours: Open every day from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. until August 4th. Once school starts on August 5th, hours shift to Saturdays and Sundays only from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., running until Labor Day Monday, which will be the final day of the season.
- Adult Lap Swimming: * Monday–Thursday: 11:00 a.m.–11:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.–6:45 p.m.
- Friday–Sunday: 11:00 a.m.–11:45 a.m.
- Passes: $2 per single session, $20 for a monthly pass, or $50 for the full summer. Registration for these passes must be completed at the Parks Department.
- “Splash” Water Aerobics: Starting in June, sessions will run on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 10:45 a.m.–11:45 a.m. The cost is $6 per session, paid monthly.
Summer Sports & Youth Clubs
Local parks will host several opportunities for residents to get active and engage in some friendly competition.

- Summer Sports Leagues: Softball games will take place at Murray Park, and Pickleball games will be held at Wilson Park. Both leagues have games scheduled at 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
- Youth Running Club: This club meets every Tuesday and Thursday throughout June and July.
- Kindergarten–3rd Grade: 8:00 a.m.–8:45 a.m.
- 4th–6th Grade: 9:00 a.m.–9:45 a.m.
Camps, Crafts & Community Culture
The summer schedule includes creative programs for youth as well as civic volunteer opportunities.
- Nature-Themed Art Camp: A 3-day camp put on by Tink’s Fine Art is designed for ages 8–18. It runs June 8th, 10th, and 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Wilson Park Shelterhouse. Registration is $100 per artist, and sign-ups close May 29th. To register, community members can call or visit the Bedford Parks Department.
- Community Craft Days: Events will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, and Wednesday, July 29th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Thornton Pavilion. The specific crafts have yet to be determined.
- Skatepark Cleanup Event: Community members can help the “Shredford Skatepark Project” give the local skatepark some care while raising awareness for their mission. The event takes place at the park on Saturday, June 13th at 10:00 a.m.
Summer Day Trips
The department is organizing two regional getaways this summer, with transport included for $20 per person:
- Churchill Downs: Friday, June 26th (Sign up by June 24th).
- Indianapolis Indians Game: Wednesday, July 22nd (Sign up by July 7th).

Rock-a-Hula Luau
An end-of-summer celebration is scheduled for Friday, July 31st, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. The event promises music, food, and fun, with more details to be released at a later date.
