Memorial Day Weekend in Orleans to feature cars, community, and ceremony

ORLEANS — Orleans residents and visitors will have several opportunities to gather, remember fallen service members, and enjoy community traditions during the Memorial Day weekend and holiday in Orleans.

The weekend begins with the return of the Homegrown Orleans Farmers Market for its 2026 season on Saturday. The market will be open from 8 a.m. until noon on the west side of historic Congress Square and will continue every Saturday through late October.

Shoppers can expect locally grown produce, homemade goods, and products from area vendors as the seasonal market once again becomes a centerpiece of downtown activity throughout the summer and fall months.

The annual Orleans Memorial Day Car Show will follow on Monday at Congress Square. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the show scheduled from noon until 4 p.m.

The event will feature classic cars, music, food vendors, and a 50/50 drawing as car enthusiasts from around the region gather in downtown Orleans to showcase their vehicles. Entry for participants is $20.

The community’s traditional Memorial Day observance will also take place on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery Pavilion, hosted by the Orleans American Legion.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the outdoor service honoring military personnel who died while serving the United States. Organizers noted the ceremony will be canceled in the event of rain.

Together, the weekend events offer residents a chance to support local vendors, celebrate community traditions, and pause to remember the sacrifices made by American service members.
