INDIANAPOLIS – May is National Foster Care Awareness Month, a time to recognize the thousands of young people who have experienced the foster care system. For Foster Success, it is an opportunity to bring the community together to spotlight the programs, partnerships, and people working to support older foster youth across the country.

On May 7, Foster Success will host its annual Breaking Down Barriers event, welcoming the public to its new downtown Indianapolis office for a community open house. The free event will give attendees an inside look at the organization’s work supporting older foster youth as they transition to adulthood.
Guests are invited to explore interactive sessions highlighting Foster Success programs, meet the teams behind the organization’s impact, and connect with young people whose lives have been shaped by the support, education, and opportunities the organization provides. Community members are encouraged to drop in as their schedules allow, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and learn how innovation and collaboration are helping break down barriers for young people across the country.

“We are excited to welcome everyone to our new space while getting a glimpse of the work of Foster Success. Our space was curated with older foster youth in mind, both locally and nationally. We are excited to welcome donors, partners, volunteers, and new community members interested in learning more to attend whenever you are able”, said Foster Success Chief Development & Communications Officer, Travis D. Tester.
“This event is an opportunity to open our doors to the community and show firsthand how support, connection, and opportunity can transform the lives of young people with foster care experience,” said Foster Success President and CEO, Dr. Maggie Stevens. “Especially during Foster Care Awareness Month, it’s important to recognize the challenges these young people face and the powerful impact a supportive community can have.”
Breaking Down Barriers will be held at Foster Success’ new office located at 550 N. Meridian Street, Suite 100, in downtown Indianapolis. Free parking is available in the surface parking lot directly behind the 550 N. Meridian Street building. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., and the event should wrap up around 8:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and attendees are welcome to come and go throughout the evening. Attire is casual.
