BLOOMINGTON — Applications are now open for the 2025 Residents Academy, an 11-week program that gives community members an inside look at how city government operates and how they can get involved.

The free program runs Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m., beginning August 14 and concluding October 23. Participants will explore how various city departments function, learn about the responsibilities of the City Council, and discover how municipal budgets and services are managed.
The academy also provides hands-on insight into how citizens can engage with local boards and commissions and promotes creative problem-solving to address community needs.
“Whether you’ve lived in Bloomington your whole life or just moved here, the Residents Academy is a great way to build connections and better understand how your city works,” said organizers.
Interested residents can apply online at bloomington.in.gov/residentsacademy.
Enrollment is limited, and early application is encouraged.
