CASA seeking volunteers to advocate for children in foster care

BEDFORD — Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lawrence County is currently seeking volunteers to support local children in foster care. The next volunteer training session begins July 8, and applications are due by June 23.

CASA volunteers are trained community members who are appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Volunteers work directly with children, gather information from involved parties, and make recommendations to the court to help ensure each child finds a safe, permanent home.

“This is a chance to make a real difference in a child’s life,” said CASA program staff. “We need dedicated individuals who can be a voice for children when they need it most.”

More information and application materials can be found at lccasa.com/events-news.

No legal background is required. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old and pass a background check.
