BLOOMINGTON—The Democratic Party in Monroe County is gearing up for its reorganization, which will begin on March 1, 2025. The party reestablishes its leadership and organization every four years following a presidential election, and this year marks the beginning of that process.

Chair David G. Henry has announced that he will not seek re-election. He will focus on his role on the County Council and future community service opportunities at the district and state levels. In addition to Henry, Vice Chair Efrat Rosser, Secretary Ashley Pirani, and Treasurer Karen Wrenbeck will also step down from their roles. Rosser has served as Vice Chair under four different chairs since 2005, Pirani has held the Secretary position since the 2021 reorganization (also serving as Acting Vice Chair), and Wrenbeck has been Treasurer since 2022.
The Monroe County Democratic Party (MCDP) has issued an open call for candidates to fill the executive officer positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. The party encourages individuals to submit an email of intent to Secretary@monroedems.org by Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The Central Committee of Precinct Committeepersons and Vice Precinct Committeepersons will review and consider the submissions.
Candidates for executive officer positions need not be current precinct committeepersons to apply.
Since November, Chair Henry has appointed nearly 150 voting members to the Central Committee, which will convene at the caucus. The party’s website has a complete list of the new committee members.
MCDP will formally announce the day and time of the caucus at least 15 days before the March 1 event. Party members and interested candidates are encouraged to stay tuned for further details.
