Entries needed for the 2024 Bloomington Trashion Refashion Show

BLOOMINGTON – The 2024 Bloomington Trashion Refashion Runway Show is seeking design entries and models for its 15th annual show to be held on Sunday, April 7th at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.  This is the day BEFORE the total solar eclipse in Bloomington.

Designs need to consist of at least 90% of previously discarded materials diverted from the waste stream.  Trashion designs are produced using waste materials other than items meant to be worn.  Past years’ shows included designs constructed from packing materials, videotape, Venetian blinds, bottle and can caps, leather couches, and camping chairs.

Refashion designs give new life to discarded garments such as graduation gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and scarves that are transformed to be worn in different ways such as a dress made from neckties.  Designs may include both Trashion and Refashion elements.  Group submissions are encouraged!

Some designers will need models for the show.  Those interested in modeling are invited to provide their information at https://forms.gle/yo4fP3ydvbPfy5Rm7.

Founded in 2010 by artist Jeanne Leimkuhler, the Trashion Refashion Runway Show is a fundraiser for The Center for Sustainable Living.  The show serves and supports self-proclaimed and professional artists and designers and seeks to change beliefs and behaviors about what role clothing plays in our lives.  A true grassroots event, Trashion celebrates inclusion and diversity in our community with models and designers of all ages and experience levels.

Important dates, instructions for submitting designs, and FAQs can be found at  https://www.bloomingtontrashion.org/.

Designers will be notified of their entry status soon after the February 18, 2024 deadline.
