Field Fires Keep Marion Township Firefighters Busy Wednesday Afternoon

(MITCHELL) – The Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department was kept busy Wednesday afternoon battling two field fires.

The first fire was reported at 1:38 p.m. A compost pile caught on fire near a cornfield. Firefighters from Marion Township and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Departments responded.

Firefighters faced windy conditions at both scenes.

Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to a field fire on Easy Street near Yockey Road in Marion Township Wednesday afternoon.

A combine caught fire in a cornfield on State Road 60 east near 9th Street in Mitchell at 1:57 p.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters from Marion Township, Huron, and Mitchell Volunteer Fire Departments responded.

Marion Township, Huron, and Mitchell Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a combine and field fire Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters stayed at both scenes for several minutes to make sure the fires were completely extinguished.
