Help Plant Trees in Falls Park in Pendleton

(PENDLETON) – On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Town of Pendleton will plant more than trees in Falls Park and throughout the community. This event kickstarts the restoration of the town’s tree canopy that was destroyed by a devastating tornado on May 27, 2019.

The town needs your help to plant all those trees! We are putting out a call to our tree stewards, tree boards, and Tree City USA communities to lend your skills by volunteering for this event. Form a team of three or more people and plant healthy young native trees throughout Pendleton.

In an effort to safely gather during this COVID-19 pandemic, teams will be formed with individuals who are already comfortable and safe working together. That could be your office staff, your family, or your small group of friends. All planting will be done outdoors and independently, ensuring a safe and fun volunteer experience for all.

Training on how to properly plant these 4-6 foot tall containerized trees will be provided ahead of time. Arboriculture professionals and 811 will have already flagged each tree planting site.

Your team will bring your own shovels in your vehicles, pick up all materials at a central staging spot, and travel independently at your own pace to each address on your planting list. A visit will take about 20 minutes so expect to spend from one to three hours total volunteering.

Register your team at  https://www.southmadisonfoundation.org/tree-planting-team-registration. A project coordinator will follow up with registrants for additional information needed about your teams.
