SEYMOUR — The City of Seymour is gearing up for a major milestone in 2027 as it marks its 175th anniversary, and municipal officials are seeking the public’s help to craft a year-long schedule of community celebrations.
Under the ambitious plan, city organizers aim to feature at least one official event, festival, or special activity for every week of the landmark year—totaling 52 distinct community celebrations throughout 2027.
City officials are encouraging residents, business owners, local organizations, and event planners to submit proposals for activities to be included in the official anniversary calendar. The initiative welcomes a wide variety of event types, including:
- Community gatherings and block parties
- Local festivals and seasonal celebrations
- Live concerts and performing arts events
- Historical lectures, exhibits, and walking tours
- Unique pop-up activities or cultural showcases
A designated three-person evaluation team will review each application to determine which events will be selected for the official anniversary calendar.
Benefits for Selected Events
Organizers whose events are chosen for inclusion will receive municipal backing and promotional support from the city, including:
- Official recognition as a Seymour 175th Anniversary event
- Inclusion in the city’s master promotional lineup and advertising campaigns
- Full marketing support across municipal channels
- Authorization to use the official Seymour 175th Anniversary branding and logo on event marketing materials
