LOOGOOTEE — The Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth is gearing up for an active autumn season, pairing local community traditions with targeted economic development initiatives aimed at building workforce pipelines and strengthening downtown districts.
Executive Director Jessica Potts highlighted the momentum during a recent interview, noting that the organization’s storefront façade grant program has spurred over $1 million in total downtown investment over the past two years. This year alone, 19 local business projects are participating in the program to revitalize commercial properties across Martin County.
Beyond revitalization efforts, the Alliance is organizing a robust calendar of fall programming tailored for local business owners, job seekers, and residents:
- Manufacturing Day (September 21): An initiative highlighting regional industry partners, career paths, and technical trades to help connect students and local job seekers with area manufacturers.
- Hindostan Days: The annual community festival returns to celebrate Martin County’s history, local artisans, food vendors, and live entertainment.
- Destination Identity Workshop (October 8): Facilitated by consultant Shelly Phelps, this strategic workshop will focus on branding, community narrative, and positioning Martin County as a key regional destination.
- Fall Job Fair (October 22): A community employment event bringing together regional employers and local talent to fill immediate workforce needs across various sectors.
