BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University Athletics is expanding hydration options and adjusting stadium entry policies for fans attending Saturday’s football game against the Howard University Bison at Memorial Stadium.
With temperatures forecast to reach 85 degrees under partly cloudy skies in Bloomington, university officials are encouraging all spectators to take precautions against heat-related illness before, during, and after the game. Kickoff for the noon matchup is set for 12:00 p.m. EDT.
To help fans stay cool, IU Athletics has doubled the number of free, multi-unit water stations across the stadium compared to the season opener. Hydration stations are positioned on both the east and west concourses of Merchants Bank Field.
Additionally, IU Athletics is adjusting its standard bag and carry-in policy for Saturday’s game:
- Sealed Water Bottles: Fans may bring one sealed, clear, non-glass water bottle into the stadium. The bottle’s manufacturer safety seal must remain unbroken upon entry.
- Refillable Containers: Spectators may alternatively bring one empty, refillable, non-glass water container to fill at any of the concourse water stations inside the venue.
- Concessions: Standard bottled water will also be available for purchase at concession stands throughout the facility.
Cooling Stations & First Aid Resources
In addition to expanded drinking water access, misting stations will be set up throughout the Memorial Stadium concourses to provide physical relief from the heat.
First-aid stations are located on both the east and west concourses to assist anyone experiencing heat exhaustion or other medical issues.
IU Athletics advises fans needing non-emergency assistance or reporting stadium issues to call or text 812-369-MYIU (6948). In the event of a medical emergency, spectators should dial 911 or notify the nearest stadium staff member or emergency responder.
