MITCHELL — Resurrection Life Ministries is inviting families to kick off the new school year with an afternoon of faith, fellowship and family fun during its Set the Captives Free Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 8, at Orchard Street Park in Mitchell.
The free community event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. and is designed to bring families together while celebrating the start of the school year and sharing the love of Christ.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including free hot dogs, popcorn and water balloon fights. A school supply giveaway will also be available, with backpacks, notebooks, pencils, paper and other classroom essentials distributed while supplies last.
The Mitchell Fire Department is expected to arrive around 1 p.m., giving children the opportunity to cool off under the department’s fire hose, tour a firetruck and meet local firefighters. Firefighters will also fill the baptism tank for individuals who wish to be baptized during the event.
Families can also take advantage of free back-to-school haircuts provided by Albert Storms and his team.
In addition to the family-friendly activities, the event will feature worship, personal testimonies and inspirational messages. Testimonies will be shared by Jacob Clark, Ricki Lintz, Joshua Love and Jason Riggle, while Austin Robinson, Johnnie Herald and Dillon Pastors will deliver encouraging messages throughout the day.
Admission is free, and community members of all ages are welcome to attend.
