BLOOMINGTON — With several contested primaries on the horizon this spring, the Monroe County Democratic Party (MCDP) is launching a series of community events to help voters connect with those seeking local office.
The first event in the series is scheduled for this Saturday, March 7, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library’s Southwest branch. The forum will focus specifically on candidates running for Perry Township Trustee and the Perry Township Board.

“MCDP is hosting a series of events designed to help make those connections,” the party announced, noting the importance of voter education ahead of the upcoming primary elections.
Meet the Candidates
For residents of Perry Township, the following names will appear on the Democratic primary ballot:
Township Trustee Candidates:
- Leon Gordon: The incumbent, who was recently selected via caucus to fill the vacancy left by the late Dan Combs.
- Levi Combs: A challenger for the seat and son of the former long-time trustee.
Township Board Candidates:
- Jack Davis
- Susie Hamilton
- Barb Sturbaum
- Jeremy Goodrich
- Jenny Stevens
This event marks the beginning of a larger effort by the MCDP to introduce a fresh slate of candidates to the community before voters head to the polls.
