BEDFORD – Dozens of children are awaiting a voice in court, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Lawrence County is urging community members to step up and become volunteer advocates.
The next CASA Volunteer Training session is slated to begin July 8th. Those interested in becoming a CASA volunteer, who speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the court system, must submit their applications by June 23rd.
CASA volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring that children’s needs are met and their best interests are represented during legal proceedings. No prior legal experience is required, as comprehensive training is provided.
More information on the training dates and a link to the online application can be found at https://lccasa.com/volunteer/.
CASA volunteers are everyday citizens who are appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. They undergo a thorough training program and are supported by professional staff.
