BEDFORD—The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County offers two action-packed summer camps for 2025. The camps are designed to provide children with a fun, enriching, and safe environment during the summer break. With locations in Bedford and Mitchell, the camps are open to families from all areas, not just those living in Lawrence County.
The Mitchell Summer Camp will be held at Burris Elementary, 1755 W. Hancock Avenue, from June 16 to July 18, running Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This camp is free to attend, and breakfast and lunch will be provided daily. Each morning includes academic support and tutoring, helping kids stay sharp and prepare for the upcoming school year.

The Bedford Summer Camp, located at the Limestone Unit, will operate from June 2 to July 25, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are also included. The cost is $60 per week, paid one week in advance, or $15 per day for families needing more flexible attendance options.
Scholarships are available for kids needing financial assistance to attend camp. “We don’t want the cost to be a barrier to anyone having a safe place for their kids this summer”, said Gilstrap. Call 812-279-6123 or stop by the Limestone Unit in Bedford for more scholarship information or to apply.

Campers at both locations will participate in a wide range of activities, including STEM projects, arts and crafts, gym games, brain games, and field trips. Weekly trips to the pool and local movie theater, along with outdoor adventures to Spring Mill State Park, are also part of the schedule.
Club membership is required to participate in either camp. Families can register or learn more by calling 812-279-6123 or emailing info@bgcblc.org.
