BROWNSTOWN — Law enforcement agencies and federal partners are continuing their joint investigation into a threat of violence directed at a Brownstown Central High School student, local officials confirmed.
The investigation began after local dispatchers received a call threatening violence against a specific student at the high school. In response, Brownstown Central Community School Corp. and the Brownstown Police Department coordinated an enhanced police presence across campus facilities to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff while maintaining normal school operations.

Investigators with the Brownstown Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department are actively following up on all leads, conducting interviews, and examining electronic evidence related to the case.
To ensure a comprehensive inquiry, local authorities are working in close coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). School safety protocols and safety plans are also being reviewed alongside state and regional safety officials.
Brownstown police expressed gratitude to partnering agencies for their assistance and resources throughout the multi-agency response, including the Indiana State Police, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Crothersville, Medora, and Seymour police departments, as well as Brownstown Central Community School Corp. administration and staff.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information regarding the threat or suspicious activity to contact the Brownstown Police Department or local law enforcement.
