ORLEANS — The Orleans Town Street Department will conduct routine fire hydrant flushing throughout the week of Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30, 2026, as part of regular water system maintenance.

Town officials advise water customers that they may experience temporary drops in water pressure and slight water discoloration while flushing is actively occurring in their neighborhoods.
Guidance for Residents
- Laundry Precautions: Residents are advised to avoid doing laundry during flushing days to prevent potential staining of clothing from discolored water.
- Clearing Tap Water: If discoloration occurs, residents should run their cold water tap for a few minutes until the water runs clear again before drinking or cooking.
Town officials expressed appreciation to community members for their patience and cooperation as municipal crews work to maintain public safety and preserve system water quality.
Residents with questions regarding the routine hydrant flushing program can contact the Orleans Town Office during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, at 812-865-2539.
