Community partners and families celebrate success of The Family Dinner Project in Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY — Local community organizers have issued a heartfelt expression of gratitude to all the residents, students, and partners who participated in the recent Family Dinner Project event.

The successful initiative was organized as a collaborative partnership between Purdue Extension Lawrence County Health and Human Sciences, Lawrence County Probation (JDAI), North Lawrence Community Schools (NLCS), and IU Health.

Held to give families an opportunity to spend quality time together while learning about healthy eating habits and the importance of shared family meals, the event drew strong community engagement and participation.

Families who gathered at the Bedford North Lawrence High School cafeteria enjoyed a free, catered meal prepared by Chartwells and NLCC culinary students, featuring chicken taco bowls and a variety of side dishes. In addition to dinner, attendees participated in interactive games, connected with other local families, and had the chance to win prizes.

Organizers designed the program to help families put down digital distractions, share a meaningful meal, and gain practical information regarding healthy lifestyle habits.

In the wake of the event, organizers extend a warm thank-you to all the families, students, and local agencies whose time, resources, and enthusiastic attendance made the Family Dinner Project a memorable success for Lawrence County.
