INDIANA — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Forestry has officially announced the return of the annual 5th Grade Arbor Day Poster Contest for the 2026–2027 school year.
All fifth-grade students and teachers across Indiana are invited to participate by submitting original artwork centered on this year’s theme: “Who Speaks for the Trees?”

The educational initiative encourages students to explore diverse forestry-related careers—such as arborists, park rangers, hydrologists, and foresters—while discovering the vital role trees play in Indiana’s environment.
To support youth education and environmental stewardship, contest winners will receive financial awards and school recognition:
- Indiana529 Savings Plan Deposits: First, second, and third-place winners will receive deposit awards into an Indiana529 account, courtesy of Indiana529.
- Tree Planting Ceremony: The first-place winner’s school will also be awarded a commemorative tree planting on campus.
