Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County hopes community will step up to help pets in shelters this month

MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Throughout the entire month, Best Friends Animal Society is sponsoring adoption fees at the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, giving local families the opportunity to adopt a dog or cat for free, thanks to fees being covered by the national nonprofit, Best Friends Animal Society.

The monthlong promotion at Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, one of the 6,000 shelters and rescue groups across the country that work with Best Friends Animal Society, is designed to help more dogs and cats get out of the shelter and join families of their own.

The monthlong promotion is designed to help more dogs and cats leave the shelter and find families of their own. The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, located at 1104 Big Four Arch Rd. in Crawfordsville, is one of thousands of shelters and rescue groups across the country that work with Best Friends Animal Society to help save the lives of homeless pets.

The shelter is open Wednesday from 12:15 to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Friday from 12:15 to 5 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shelter is closed Monday and Tuesday. An approved adoption application is required.

In addition, the shelter will host a Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring activities for kids, a bake sale, a corn hole tournament, and more. W
