BEDFORD — Hoosier National Forest staff are excited to welcome neighbors, families, and friends to a community open house on September 12 at the Forest Service Office in Bedford.
Drop in at any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. EDT at 811 Constitution Avenue to explore, discover, and celebrate everything your national forest has to offer.
This relaxed, come‑and‑go event is designed for all ages.
- Meet the team who help care for the 205,000-acre Hoosier National Forest and learn about their work through hands-on activity stations sprinkled throughout the building.
- Stroll through history with an informative exhibit celebrating 90 years of forest milestones.
- Climb aboard a real fire truck and check out wildland firefighting gear.
- Kids (and kids at heart!) can enjoy big smiles and photo ops with Smokey Bear and Bigfoot from Leave No Trace.
To add to the fun, the first 25 families will receive a gift bag! All attendees may enter a drawing for an America the Beautiful Federal Lands Pass. The nature shop is offering a special 20% discount on all merchandise on September 8, 9, and 10th during regular business hours and during the open house event.
