BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market will mark the end of an era this weekend as vendors Melvin and Karen Reeves host their final market day after 27 years of service to the local agricultural community.
For nearly three decades, the Reeveses have operated a popular stall featuring heirloom tomatoes, collards, and bok choy. Community members and shoppers are invited to visit Booth #B5 this Saturday to offer well-wishes and farewells during their final market setup.
Saturday Music and City Engagement Highlights
In addition to celebrating the Reeveses’ retirement, Saturday’s market lineup features live acoustic music and a public engagement session with city officials.
Acoustic roots and bluegrass musician Josh Junior Hughey, performing alongside his collaborative project Limestone Nomad, will take the BCFM Circular Stage for sets at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
As part of the city’s Mayor’s Team at the Table weekly outreach initiative, Shawn Miya, Assistant Director of Sustainability for the Economic and Sustainable Development (ESD) Department, will be at the market from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to discuss local programs and take public questions.
Tuesday Market Resumes September 1
Following a brief hiatus, the Tuesday Market returns on September 1 for its final month of the 2026 season. Operating weekly from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. through the end of September, the event will take place at Hopewell Commons, located at 630 South Morton Street.
The weekday market features fresh seasonal produce, artisan foods, and prepared dining options. Live music will continue at the weekday venue as well, with Josh Hughey and Limestone Nomad scheduled to perform at 5 p.m. this coming Tuesday.
Marketgoers are encouraged to utilize the adjacent B-Line Trail to walk or bike to Hopewell Commons, where bicycle racks are available on both the east and west sides of the venue. Admission to the Tuesday Market is free.
