BEDFORD — North Lawrence Community Schools are enforcing the new Indiana “Bell-to-Bell” cell phone law for the upcoming school year. Here is what NLCS families need to know for the 2026-2027 school year.
Senate Enrolled Act 78, signed by Governor Mike Braun, mandates a “bell-to-bell” ban on personal electronic devices in public and charter schools. Students will not be allowed to use cellphones, smartwatches, or gaming devices throughout the entire school day. Exceptions will be made for emergencies, medical needs, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
