JASPER — Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper is opening its doors to the next generation of healthcare professionals with a hands-on career exploration event titled “Dive into Nursing.”
Designed specifically for high school students from freshmen through seniors, the event aims to demystify nursing careers, outline education pathways, and highlight growing opportunities within the healthcare industry.
The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. EDT at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center, located at 800 West 9th Street in Jasper. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.
Participants will get an insider’s look into the daily lives of registered nurses and healthcare providers. Key highlights of the evening include:
- Hands-On Activities: Interactive demonstrations offering practical insight into daily nursing responsibilities and medical equipment.
- Mentorship & Advice: Opportunities to connect directly with experienced clinical nurses to receive real-world career advice and answer questions.
- Educational Pathways: Information on nursing degree programs, career advancement trajectories, and available local scholarship opportunities.
- Behind-the-Scenes Access: Guided tours of the hospital’s nursing units.
Organizers have designed the event to be welcoming for both students and their families, who are strongly encouraged to attend together. In addition to educational programming, attendees can enjoy free ice cream served by JB’s Barnyard alongside special giveaways throughout the evening.
Deaconess Memorial Medical Center is a 128-bed regional medical facility known for nursing excellence. High school students interested in attending can register upon arrival during check-in starting at 5:30 p.m. on the evening of the event. Advance registration is also available by scanning the QR code on the official event flyer distributed to local schools.
