BLOOMINGTON – The Commission on the Status of Black Males will host the National Million Father March on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at Fairview Elementary School, 500 West 7th Street.
The event is organized locally by the Commission on the Status of Black Males and is part of a nationwide initiative led by Fathers Incorporated. The Million Father March encourages fathers, father figures, and male mentors to accompany students to school during the first week of the academic year.
“The Million Father March reflects the kind of community Bloomington strives to be, where every child knows they are supported and every family knows they have a village behind them,” said Shatoyia Moss, City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Director. “By bringing together fathers, mentors, volunteers, educators, and community members, we’re creating meaningful connections that extend far beyond the first day of school. These moments of encouragement help foster student success, strengthen relationships, and remind our young people that an entire community is invested in their future.”
