Indiana House Democratic Caucus announced record breaking number of contested seats for November election

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana House Democratic Caucus announced Tuesday its recruitment of Democratic candidates in 97 of the state’s 100 House districts, the highest number of seats contested by Indiana House Democrats this century, after filling several ballot vacancies.

“Our recruitment of 97 talented Democratic candidates across Indiana is a clear sign of Democrats’ momentum heading into the general election. The cost of everything is sky high. Hoosiers are ready for a break from the failed policies of the Republican supermajority,” said Indiana House Democratic Leader Phil GiaQuinta, State Representative (HD 80, Fort Wayne).

The recruitment record comes as the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) recently announced a slate of 11 Target Races in Indiana, marking the organization’s first investment in Indiana in over a decade as Indiana Democrats look to flip four House seats to break the Republican supermajority.

“This November, over 6.5 million Hoosiers will have a Democrat running in their Statehouse district,” said Leader GiaQuinta. “Indiana Democrats are excited to provide voters with a choice at the ballot box, and we stand ready to fight back against extreme policies that don’t serve our communities.”
