BLOOMINGTON — In a collaborative effort to tackle the digital divide, AT&T representatives will gather at the South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) on Wednesday morning to announce a significant localized investment and distribute vital technology to area students.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the SCCAP facility at 1500 West 15th Street in Bloomington.
During the presentation, AT&T will announce a $25,000 community investment specifically designated for SCCAP. The funding is part of the telecommunications company’s ongoing nationwide commitment to improve internet accessibility, affordability, and safe digital adoption for underserved communities.
In addition to the monetary contribution, AT&T will distribute 100 refurbished laptops alongside backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies. The laptops and backpacks, completely funded by AT&T, will be handed out to local families and students who were pre-selected by SCCAP ahead of the event.
The Bloomington distribution is a piece of a larger, nationwide AT&T employee initiative aimed at equipping students in qualifying households with the necessary tools before they head back to school. Globally, the company has set a target to distribute 30,000 laptops to communities across the United States over the course of 2026.
Looking further ahead, AT&T has committed a total of $5 billion to a long-term goal aimed at helping 25 million people gain and maintain reliable access to high-speed internet by the year 2030.
Wednesday’s event will bring together representatives from both AT&T and SCCAP, alongside local community leaders, students, and their families, to celebrate the partnership and resource distribution.
