INDIANAPOLIS — Right to Life of Indianapolis has named Chris Eckhart as interim president of the organization, effective immediately. The board of directors made the decision to put Eckhart into the interim position following the sudden passing of President Marc Tuttle on June 2. Tuttle led Right to Life of Indianapolis for 18 years.

“It has been providential to have Chris on our board as an active and engaged member who is willing to take on this vital role,” said Tom Hirschauer, board chair of Right to Life of Indianapolis. “The last thing Marc Tuttle would want is for his passing to hinder the work he so courageously led. Our organization will go on, and it will go on in his memory.”

Eckhart, a current board member, has agreed to serve as the interim president for an initial 90-day period. The immediate focus is ensuring continuity of leadership and support for the mission of Right to Life of Indianapolis during this period of transition. The board does plan to conduct a formal search for a permanent president.
“Marc Tuttle devoted nearly two decades of faithful service to Right to Life of Indianapolis, and his commitment to protecting life touched countless lives throughout our community,” said Eckhart. “While no one can replace Marc, I am committed to ensuring continuity of his work and keeping Right to Life of Indianapolis strong and focused on its mission of building a culture of life throughout Central Indiana.”
Eckhart is a lifelong resident of the Indianapolis area and joined the board of directors of Right to Life of Indianapolis in December 2024. He recently retired after selling the manufacturing company he owned and operated. Eckhart and his wife, Tyleen, have been married for 34 years and have raised eight children. They are parishioners at St. Luke Catholic Church and members of the Indianapolis Legatus chapter.
