BLOOMINGTON — Fresh off capturing the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship, the national hype train surrounding the Indiana Hoosiers has officially crossed over into the virtual world.
Electronic Arts (EA) has unveiled the highly anticipated reveal trailer and official cover art for EA Sports College Football 27, placing head coach Curt Cignetti and the Indiana football program at the dead center of the sports gaming universe.
Cignetti—who engineered a historic 16-0 perfect season to bring Bloomington its first-ever football national title—serves as the primary narrator for the new trailer. The promotional video opens with ESPN’s Chris Fowler proclaiming the Indiana Hoosiers as the new “kings of college football”.
Further solidifying IU’s newfound status as a national powerhouse, Cignetti has been named a featured cover athlete for the game’s Deluxe Edition.
The cover showcases Cignetti standing front and center with a backdrop of a packed Memorial Stadium. He is flanked by a star-studded cast of the nation’s top players, including Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney, and Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons.
The honor makes Cignetti the first representative in Indiana University history to grace the cover of an EA Sports football game.
The cinematic reveal trailer leans heavily on the defining moments of Indiana’s historic championship run, meticulously recreated in the game’s engine:
- The Head Coach: Cignetti is shown multiple times gazing out across Memorial Stadium. His voiceover addresses the modern era of the sport: “Some have another dream: the money, the deals, the cars… I only care if it turns into one thing on Saturday….winning.”
- The Heisman Winner: The trailer prominently features a sequence recreating quarterback Fernando Mendoza’s clutch, goal-line touchdown run from the national title game. Mendoza, who transferred to IU in 2025, won the Heisman Trophy before being selected first overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.
