BLOOMINGTON — With the summer months underway, local non-profit organization New Hope for Families is urgently seeking volunteers to fill a variety of critical roles from May through August.

The organization, which provides emergency shelter and early childhood education to families experiencing homelessness, relies heavily on community members to keep its daily operations running smoothly. Whether you are a student looking to give back during the summer break or a community member wanting to make a difference, multiple shifts and positions are currently available.
New Hope for Families has open opportunities across its campus, tailoring positions to different interests and skill sets:
- Admin Building Host: Greet guests, answer phone calls, and assist staff with essential administrative tasks.
- Shelter Host: Provide a welcoming presence in the housing shelter, assisting families and helping maintain a supportive environment.
- ELC Classroom Volunteer: Assist teachers in the Early Learning Center (ELC), engaging with young children through play, reading, and educational activities.
- Closing Volunteer: Help wrap up daily operations, ensuring facilities are tidy, secure, and ready for the following day.
The organization is hosting upcoming onboarding sessions for new volunteers. If you are interested in spending a few hours a week supporting local families, you can get started in two ways:
- Create an Online Profile: Head over to the official New Hope for Families volunteer page to read detailed descriptions of each role and set up a volunteer profile. Once registered, you will receive automatic notifications when onboarding and training sessions are scheduled.
- Contact Directly: For specific questions regarding available shifts or to sign up directly, contact Volunteer Coordinator Amber Griffin via email at amber@newhope4families.org.
By giving your time this summer, you can provide vital stability and hope to Monroe County families working toward a brighter future.
