BLOOMINGTON — The Monroe County Democratic Party is inviting area residents, volunteers, and community organizers to kick off the upcoming election cycle at its first monthly meeting of the year.
The gathering is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library in downtown Bloomington. Organizers emphasize that the event is free and open to all community members, regardless of their past level of political involvement.

With pivotal local and state elections on the horizon, the meeting serves as an entry point for residents looking to get involved or learn more about the party’s platform and goals for the busy months ahead.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Meet the Candidates: Local Democratic candidates will be in attendance to connect directly with constituents, share their visions, and listen to feedback on key community issues.
- Find Volunteer Opportunities: Discover actionable ways to plug into local grassroots efforts, campaign strategies, and neighborhood organizing teams.
- Network with Neighbors: Connect with fellow Monroe County residents committed to local civic engagement.
“Whether you’re brand new to getting involved or have been organizing for years, there’s a place for you here,” the organization stated in its announcement. “Learn how you can plug in, meet great people, and help us build the energy we’ll need for the busy months ahead.”
The meeting will take place in the heart of downtown Bloomington, at the Monroe County Public Library, 303 East Kirkwood Avenue, in rooms 1B and 1C. Organizers noted a logistical advantage for attendees driving to the event: because Indiana University’s graduation weekend has concluded, downtown traffic is expected to be light. Additionally, vehicle parking is free throughout downtown Bloomington on Sundays.
For more information on the event or how to get involved with upcoming campaign initiatives, residents can visit the official Monroe County Democrats website or attend the session this Sunday.
