PAOLI — The heart of Orange County is set to transform into a vibrant hub of celebration on Sunday, May 17, 2026, as local leaders host a community-wide kickoff to summer and a tribute to the “America 250” national anniversary.
The event, which runs from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Orange County Courthouse lawn, is designed to foster local connection through music, food, and family-friendly activities.

The celebration was inspired by Commissioner Richard Dixson and organized in collaboration with Robert Henderson. The initiative is backed by a bipartisan coalition of local leadership, including Commissioners Marshall Noble and Steve Hopper, alongside County Council members Zach Brown and Catherine Henderson.
Organizers noted that the event’s visual identity and spirit were heavily influenced by the work of local artist Anita Bradford, whose art often highlights the history and “simple moments” that define the people of Orange County.
Schedule of Events and Highlights
The festivities begin an hour early for the county’s younger residents with a patriotic Bicycle Parade.
- 1:00 p.m.: Families are encouraged to meet at the courthouse with bicycles decorated in red, white, and blue. Hosted by Team Peace, the parade will travel to the local grade school and back, returning just in time for the main event.
- 2:00 p.m.: The official celebration begins on the courthouse lawn.
Attendees can look forward to:
The first 250 guests will receive FREE ice cream in honor of the America 250 milestone.
The Lick Creek Band will provide the afternoon’s soundtrack. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the live music.
Lost River will be on-site with fresh strawberries available for purchase.
Various local partners, including Safe Haven, Team Peace, and Lost River, will be present to connect with residents.
While the schedule is packed, organizers hinted that several unannounced “surprises” are planned throughout the afternoon to keep the energy high.
“This is more than an event—it’s a reminder of what makes this place special,” organizers shared. “We want to fill the courthouse lawn with laughter, music, and community.”
Community leaders, including Dixson, Henderson, Brown, Noble, and Hopper, will be present at 1:00 p.m. to help kick off the parade and welcome families to the historic downtown square. All residents are invited to attend this free afternoon of celebration.
