DUGGER — Firefighters spent several hours early Sunday morning battling a blaze that destroyed a rural event venue near Dugger.
The fire was reported at the Acorn Ridge Reception Barn on South County Road 600 East near East Cass Center Road. The venue, identified as Acorn Ridge Reception Barn, was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Crews from Union Fire Territory responded to the scene and worked for about five hours to bring the fire under control. Due to the size of the structure and rural location, additional support was requested from neighboring departments. Mutual aid was provided by both the Carlisle-Haddon Fire Department and the Sullivan Fire Department.
Fire officials said the structure was ultimately a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no preliminary determination has been released.
