A Sweet Escape: Daviess County unveils its 2026 Sweet Treat Trail

DAVIESS COUNTY A new tourism initiative is inviting residents and visitors alike to explore southern Indiana one dessert at a time.

The Daviess County Sweet Treat Trail, a curated culinary experience featuring 14 locally owned businesses, is designed to showcase the area’s bakeries, ice cream shops, and cafés while boosting support for small businesses.

Organized in part by Visit Daviess County in collaboration with Discover Southern Indiana, the trail offers a fun, interactive way to experience the county’s local flavor.

Participants can pick up a “passport” that guides them to each stop along the trail. At every location, visitors collect stamps to track their progress, encouraging them to explore a variety of sweet destinations across the county.

The 14 featured businesses include a mix of dessert-focused establishments known for homemade ice cream, fresh pastries, cookies, and specialty coffee drinks. Organizers say the trail is designed to highlight the uniqueness and quality of locally owned shops.

Beyond the culinary experience, the trail includes opportunities for prizes and giveaways. Visitors who complete their passports or participate in promotions — such as sharing photos of their treats on social media — may be eligible to win swag bags and other items.

Tourism officials say the interactive element has helped generate buzz online while drawing more foot traffic into small businesses.

Supporting Local Tourism

The Sweet Treat Trail is part of a broader effort to strengthen local tourism and economic development by encouraging visitors to spend more time — and money — in the area.

Initiatives like this have become increasingly popular in smaller communities, offering themed experiences that combine travel, food, and local culture. By focusing on accessible and family-friendly activities, organizers hope to attract both day-trippers and longer-term visitors.

Officials say the trail not only promotes local businesses but also gives people a new way to experience the charm of Daviess County.
