BLOOMINGTON — A portion of the IU Health Bloomington Hospital building was flooded Monday night after a burst pipe, necessitating the relocation of several patients within the facility.
In a statement released via the hospital’s official Facebook page, IU Health confirmed that all patients are safe. While “a number of patients” were moved from the affected area to other rooms throughout the hospital, an IU Health spokesperson reported the leak has since been stopped.
Staff members are currently assessing the extent of the damage to determine if any patients will require transfer to other facilities.
Hospital officials have advised visitors to avoid the impacted areas of the building until further notice. Despite the disruption, some sections of the hospital are expected to reopen shortly as cleanup and assessments continue.
