BEDFORD — A popular student tradition at Bedford North Lawrence High School returns Friday as the annual “Mr. BNL” competition brings entertainment, school spirit, and friendly competition to the stage.
The 2026 event is scheduled for Friday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the Guy Rumsey Performing Arts Center. Admission is $5 at the door.

Hosted by the school’s Renaissance program, Mr. BNL is a lighthearted male pageant that features students competing in a variety of segments, including talent performances, themed routines, and onstage questions. The event also serves as a fundraiser while highlighting student involvement across clubs, athletics, and activities.

This year’s theme centers on country life, with performances inspired by favorites such as “Fishin’ in the Dark” and “Thank God I’m a Country Boy.” Contestants are split into two teams — Moo-Moo Here and Moo-Moo There, each aiming to win over the audience and judges.
Team Moo-Moo Here:
- Jacob Burrus, senior — Star System Percussion
- Morgan Conover, senior — Swim
- Trent Dodds, senior — Multimedia
- Lincoln Gabhart, sophomore — Environmental Club
Team Moo-Moo There:
- Kason Gulley, senior — Cross Country
- Gage Lewis, sophomore — Marching Band
- Nick Stigall, freshman — Chess Club
- Noah Strauser, senior — Football
- Jaxen Trostle, junior — Student Council
The Mr. BNL competition remains a crowd favorite each year, known for its humor, creativity, and enthusiastic participation. This year’s country-themed show is expected to deliver another fun and memorable evening for students and the community.
