Martin County Alliance honors Harvest Health and Rehab at inspiring annual dinner

LOOGOOTEE The Martin County Community Building was filled with optimism last night as the Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth hosted its Annual Dinner, celebrating a landmark year of development and community revitalization.

The event, which serves as a cornerstone for the local business community, combined a retrospective of the county’s recent wins with a forward-looking challenge to continue the momentum of growth.

Keynote: “Hometown Takeover” Star Shares Success Secrets

The highlight of the evening was guest speaker Shellie Phelps, widely known for her appearance on HGTV’s Hometown Takeover. Phelps energized the crowd by sharing her first-hand experience in revitalizing her own community.

Her message focused on the “power of the volunteer,” emphasizing that true town transformations don’t just happen through large-scale funding, but through:

  • Collaboration: Breaking down silos between local government and private citizens.
  • Diverse Perspectives: Engaging volunteers from “all walks of life” to bring fresh, unconventional ideas to the table.
  • Persistence: Turning small wins into long-term community pride.

A Year of “Firsts” and “New Builds”

Director Jessica Potts delivered a state-of-the-county address that painted a picture of a county on the rise. Potts highlighted several major accomplishments from the past 12 months, including:

  • Business Revitalization: The successful rollout of several façade grants that have modernized the appearance of local storefronts.
  • Economic Expansion: Numerous ribbon cuttings for new small businesses.
  • Addressing the Housing Gap: The announcement and progress of two new housing projects, a critical step in attracting more workers to the Martin County area.

Member of the Year: Harvest Health and Rehab

The most prestigious honor of the night, the Martin County Alliance Member of the Year Award, was presented to Harvest Health and Rehab.

The facility was recognized for its commitment to providing high-quality care and its active role in supporting local economic initiatives.

Investing in the Future

The evening concluded with both a live and silent auction. The funds raised during these events are vital to the Alliance’s operations, allowing the organization to continue its work in business recruitment, retention, and community marketing.

As Martin County looks toward the remainder of 2026, the Alliance remains focused on leveraging the “fresh ideas” mentioned by Phelps to ensure the county remains a competitive and vibrant place to live and work.
