North Lawrence Water Authority sets Annual Meeting and Board Elections for April 21

BEDFORD Members of the North Lawrence Water Authority (NLWA) will head to the polls later this month to select leadership for three key districts. The authority’s Annual Meeting and Board of Directors election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, at the NLWA Maintenance Building located at 116 Bailey Scales Road.

The election comes at a vital time for the utility as it continues to manage infrastructure and water quality for rural Lawrence County residents.

Candidates and Districts on the Ballot

Voters will decide on representation for Districts 4, 5, and 6. Each district encompasses several distinct neighborhoods and rural communities:

  • District 4: Serving Logan Bottoms, Mt. Pleasant, McFadden Ridge, and Peerless. The candidates are Derek Kern and Mark Allen.
  • District 5: Serving the Guthrie, Chapel Hill, Coveyville, and State Road 446 areas. The candidates are Laura Eads and Greg Eads.
  • District 6: Serving Patton Hill, Avoca, East Oolitic, Breckenridge, and the Broomsage Road area. The candidates are Jim Henderson and Sam Oliver.

How the Election Works

Unlike general municipal elections, water authority elections are governed by specific utility bylaws. Typically, only property owners or residents who receive water service from the authority within the specific districts are eligible to cast a ballot.
